How the Visual Experience and Privacy Assessment is Calculated

Updated over 3 months ago

The Visual Experience and Privacy Assessment feature evaluates how effectively privacy is maintained in the planning alternatives. By providing metrics like Privacy Scores and Isovist Maps, it helps users understand the privacy levels in open and shared workspaces, meeting rooms, and social areas.

Key Metrics Explained

  1. Room Privacy Score is calculated for each room based on:

    • Partition Material Weight (PMW):

    • Workspace Density Factor (WDF): Measures the density of workspaces in a room.

And combined to create the room's privacy score.

  1. Overall Privacy Score

    • Aggregates the weighted Room Privacy Scores across the entire floor plan.

    • Provides a single metric to assess the layout's overall privacy level.

  2. Isovist Maps

    • Visualizes the line of sight and visual exposure from the center of a room:

      • Obstructions like solid partitions and columns reduce visual exposure.

      • Transparent partitions and doors allow visibility.

Visual Representations

  • Privacy Scores: Displayed for each room and aggregated for the entire layout.

  • Isovist Maps:

    • Show the visual exposure within each room.

    • Highlight areas with higher or lower visual connectivity.

Why These Metrics Matter

These insights enable you to:

  • Improve privacy in open and shared spaces.

  • Make data-driven decisions to balance collaboration and privacy.
