Program

In Concept or Detailed Planning options, the Program is where you enter specific requirements for your project.

Updated over 3 months ago

The Program empowers you to state the requirements for your new project using qbiq's user-friendly planning system.

The extent of design capabilities available in the Program stage depends on your initial Program Type selection:

  • In Concept Planning, you will only be able to enter general layout requirements, such as the percentage of open versus closed spaces.

  • In a Detailed program, you can enter all your specific room requirements, designate specific locations, and even create different departments or tenants for a single project.

Concept Program

This functionality enables you to generate a floor plan with quick configurations. It will be ideal for you when you want a swift and easy-to-use floor planning track without the need to select and place facilities within the layout.

Click here for a video tutorial on how to submit a Concept project.

To configure a Concept Program:

  1. Start on the left-hand side of the screen with the Floor Plan Profile, which defines the layout’s characteristics.

  2. When you finish, tap the Generate Program button.

  3. You will see your selection's outcome on the screen's right side - Program Distribution, Density, and Estimated Seatcount.

  4. Tap Next and continue to the following step. If you want to be more specific select the option to continue to a Detailed Program.

Important!

Tapping the Detailed Program button is a one-way change. It switches your program type from Concept to Detailed. This action cannot be reversed.

Detailed Program

This step allows you to dive deeper into the floor plan design. You can define the needed departments, choose facilities, configure their measurements, and place them on the layout. While planning takes longer than the Concept Program, it empowers you with design flexibility through a wide selection of rooms and customization options.

To configure a Concept Program there are 2 options:

  1. Using the Floor Plan Profile

  2. Skipping the Floor Plan Profile

For more information about configuring a Detailed Program refer to this article.

Note:

When working on a multi-floor project in the Program step, defining the floor plan profile and room type selection will apply to all floors. The Stacking stage is designed to fine-tune each floor.

Floor Plan Profile

The Floor Plan Profile allows you to customize your space planning based on your general requirements.

  1. Planning Style - The Planning Style determines the structure of your planning alternatives.

Choose one of the following options:

    • Traditional - This planning style offers the traditional closed offices for enhanced privacy and focus. It is commonly seen in Legal, Accounting, and Financial firms.

    • Modern - This planning style is an open space layout that supports collaborative work. It is commonly seen in High Tech, Start-ups, Creative, and Consulting companies.

    • Co-Work - This planning style blends individual and team offices with open space. It is ideal for companies that need collaborative working areas as well as private rooms.

  2. Open Space Desk Type - Select the seating form within the open space.

    • Workstations - features L-shaped desks

    • Benchings - features a regular desk setting

  3. Open Space Desk Size - Choose the desk dimensions to accommodate open seating. Keep in mind that a larger desk offers a spacious work hub for each person. However, it allows fewer seating allocations within the office space.

  4. Seat Distribution - Select the ratio of closed offices and open space areas by adjusting the slider or by entering the numerical value into one of the boxes.
